Hell of a way to spend an evening

You should think that 2 hours from the Cataclysm in Europe, your's truly would be busy doing last minute changes to GUIS: gUI, getting rich at the Auction House or consuming large amounts of beer to celebrate the arrival of yet another expansion to the game that has taken up quite a few hours of my life for the last 5 years, right?

Wrong.

After a broken motherboard seriously corrupted my original operating system files, Windows cannot load. Not even in safe mode. It is beyond repair. A full install is the only solution. A full and fresh install from scratch. And therein lies a million problems. Because my computer hasn't got a DVD drive. I haven't got any of the original installation discs.

You see, when I left Norway to move to Sweden last year, I brought with me what I could carry, only that. Which was my electric guitar, my electric bass, my pod X3 live, two computers (one of them being an old laptop from which I'm writing this), some books, clothes, and a mobile phone. I left everything else behind. In fact, I gave it all away.

Now, I've replaced the broken motherboard, cleansed every inch of the computer inside, dismantled every fan and cooler, and made sure everything now works and is in perfect physical condition. Still I'm facing problem of installing Windows from a disk I no longer have, on a computer with no DVD-drive nor any operating system. What I do have is my licence key, glued to the back of my computer, a 2GB USB Flash Drive, a crappy laptop, and a good Internet connection. I guess this is the point where I either give up, or turn into McGyver.

And yeah, I'm humming the McGyver theme right now.
